Taking back my life from Fibromyalgia


Changing the direction of my thinking when it came to deal constructively with my fibro, began one morning as I sat in the doctor’s examination room and listened to the new doctor tell me that he wanted to run more test to confirm that I had Gastroparesis. The problem was, I had come to see him because I had hoped that he could help me deal with the pain in my legs that was out of control. It was so out of control that it was affecting my blood pressure, causing it to rise so high none of the medication to lower it worked. It was so out of control that was being to have problems walking. In fact, I was looking for a wheel chair to buy, knowing that if something was not done soon I would be unable to stand at all.

The trust was I was filled with hope when I walked into the doctor’s office, hoping that he would order some kind of test to see if there was some blockage in my legs, causing them to feel weak and cold all the time. Instead, my complaint was basically ignored, even after I asked him when would we get around to talking about the pain in my legs. His answer; “ After we deal with your stomach issue.”

I could go on and on, about all the doctors before him that had basically ignored my complaint, including the doctor that diagnosed my fibro. Including the doctor that treated me after the car accident that started me down this path of pain, and how he allowed me to leave the hospital unable to use my right leg at all. I could complain about Texas State law the has such a tight reign upon those who are allowed to prescribe pain medication and how much is allowed, that I could only get 12 pain pills at a time. But I think you get the picture.

I was not a happy camper, as I walked out of the clinic. I felt that since I had no insurance and had to pay cash for all my medical help, that the doctor should not have ignored why I was in his office in the first place. So I filed a complaint with the clinic and his supervisors. As a result, when I returned to the clinic I was given a new doctor who really did listen to what I had to say. But despite the fact that she made some kind of effort to help me with my pain by prescribing Gabapentin, no tests were order.

The Gabapentin worked great in controlling my pain, but it also played havoc with my mind and my emotions. One minute I was in tears the next I was raging in anger for no apparent reason. I thought I was losing my mind, before I finally looked up the side effects. Unable to afford to see the doctor at the moment, I had to make a choice on my own, so I cut the dosage in half. Then I started to do some research online, looking for answers. More to the point I began to look for alternative treatments.

Although, I soon learned that none of the herb remedies worked, but that did not stop me from at least trying to help myself feel better. I even went for weekly messages; it did help, but only to relive the stress that was not helping my pain levels at all. I went to see a Chinese acupressure therapist, and he put my shoulder back in its socket properly. Another pain issue that the doctors could not properly diagnose or treat.

But the most effective remedy for dealing with the pain, began with a detox program (not one you buy at the store.) At first I thought that simple using juices was enough, but then I came to realize that there are different levels of detoxification. The over a life time, I had been exposed to a wide variety of chemicals which included cleaning products and pesticides that are sprayed on crops. So I began a heavy metal detox, which was not done quickly, but took two months to complete.

Then I started a detox process on my liver and kidney, and then my colon. In order to repair the damage and imbalance in my body caused by chemicals I had removed from my body, I started to add probiotics, to my daily nutritional needs, along with magnesium, omega3-6 .

Then I began to take a look at my diet, and soon discovered that although my diet for dealing constructively with Gastroparesis was a good one, there where chemicals with in the food that my body was reacting to. Preservatives and dyes are notorious for increasing pain in those with arthritis of any kind.

Going organic, in my choice of food in which I consumed each day did wonders for me. Not only did my pain lessoned until it was no more than an occasional nuisance, which hit me if I got cold. My energy levels also rose, until I could once more walk the mall.

The whole process of taking back my life from Fibromyalgia did not happen overnight. On the contrary it took over four years. That is a short time period compared to the 12 years it took for me to realize that there was nothing that medical science could for me.

Why Should I Detoxify?

Every day we are bombarded by toxins from many sources. Wastes are a natural by-product of even the healthiest diet and our modern lifestyles expose us to many other impurities. The elimination of these is one of our body's most important tasks and a vital element in reaching and maintaining the best possible health.

1. 1 celery stick
2. 2 apples -chopped
3. Juice of 1 lemon
4. 1 medium sized cucumber- diced
5. A cup of spinach.
6. Half cup parsley- chopped
7. 1 small piece of ginger- peeled

The recipe can be made simply by blending these ingredients with purified water and ice cubes. You can use some raw carrot juice or unsweetened fruit juice to sweeten this drink. It is very effective for weight loss, as it is a good remedy that will provide an effective colon cleanse.

Fiber Berry Detox Drink Recipe
2 large green apples
2 large yellow pears
1/3 cup blueberries
1/4 cup fresh cranberries
3 strawberries

Juice apples, pears, blueberries, cranberries and strawberries into a large glass. Stir mixture and drink.

Liver & Kidney Cleansing
Garden Greens Detox Drink Recipe
1 large carrot
2 large tomatoes
1 medium cucumber
1 medium stalk celery
1/3 cup packed spinach leaves
1/4 cup packed Romaine leaves
1/4 cup packed parsley

Juice carrot, tomatoes, cucumber, celery, spinach, Romaine and parsley into a glass. Stir mixture and drink.

Liver cleanes

1/2 cup of warm water
2 tbsp of pure lemon juice
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 tbsp of black-strap molasses
cayenne pepper to taste
Drink this mixture first thing in the morning for 10 days continuously.

We live in a toxic world. Every day we are exposed to hundreds of toxic metals and chemicals, such as mercury, lead, aluminum, food additives, pesticides, industrial waste, the list goes on.

½ cup cilantro (chelation)
¼ cup peppermint leaves (menthol helps releive stress)
1 cup spring water
sugar or honey to taste (honey has B vitamins and iron)
Blend all ingredients in a blender until liquefied. If desired, you can strain before drinking.

Cilantro & Olive Chelating Spread
This savory spread can be used on bread, meats, or even as a dip for romaine lettuce or celery stalks. It’s rich in vitamin E and antioxidants, as well as the chelating qualities of cilantro.

3-4 cloves garlic minced (antioxidant)
1/3 cup brazil nuts (antioxidant, selenium)
1/3 cup sunflower seeds (antioxidant, cystine)
1 cup pitted and drained green olives (vitamin E)
2 cups chopped, packed cilantro (chelating qualities)
¼ cup linseed/flaxseed oil (antioxidant, omega fatty acids)
¼ cup olive oil (vitamin E, omega fatty acids)
juice of one medium lime (vitamin C)
sea salt and pepper to taste
Mix all ingredients in a food processor until chopped to a fine puree. Best if eaten at room temperature (in other words don’t cook it).

That way my balance is between the good and the bad bacteria is consistent.

So if you are on an antibiotic, think probotic , not as an alterative but as a vital necessity.

The first example of probiotic food was the introduction of acidophilus to milk, which in some cases helped people who had difficulty digesting milk to be able to tolerate milk better. These claims have yet to be verified, though in most cases no one derive harm from probiotic food or supplementation.

Some doctors are going as far as to tell people that are taking antibiotics to begin a regiment of probiotic to counter act the effect of antibiotics on the good bacteria in the intestinal system.

Why Should I do a Parasite Cleansing

Parasites? Why do I need to cleanse my body of parasites? I don't have them, right? Well, everyone seems to think parasites are things they don't have, but other people do have. You may or may not have them, but up to 50% of the human population have parasites according to some recent research. I used to get pin worms every time I moved into a new house or apt. You never know what people leave behind. I soon discovered if I cleaned that house or apt myself before I moved in I never got them again.

Once parasites get inside your body, they will stay there, living off the foods and nutrients you intake, unless you get rid of them. And unlike pin worms most parasites can not be seen by the naked eye. To get rid of them, you must fight them will parasite-killing herbs, like wormwood.

This is overall a superior approach but hard to ingest because they are so spicy. (Ever wonder why natives in Mexico don’t get stomach sickness?) Candidiasis (Yeast Infection)

Candidiasis is an infection caused by a group of yeast. There are more than 20 species of Candida, the most common being Candida albicans. These fungi live on all surfaces of our bodies. Under certain conditions, they can become so numerous they cause infections, particularly in warm and moist areas. Examples of such infections are vaginal yeast infections, thrush, skin and diaper rash.

Candidal infections commonly occur in warm moist body areas, such as underarms. Usually the skin effectively blocks yeast, but any breakdown or cuts in the skin may allow this organism to penetrate.

Typical affected areas in babies include the mouth and diaper areas.

In adults, oral yeast infections become more common with increased age. Adults also can have yeast infections around dentures, under the breast and lower abdomen, and beneath other skin folds. Most of these candidal infections are superficial and clear up easily with treatment.

Yeast Infection Causes

In women, yeast infections are the second most common reason for vaginal burning, itching, and discharge. Yeasts are found in the vagina of most women and can overgrow if the environment in the vagina changes. Antibiotic and steroid use is the most common reason for yeast overgrowth. But pregnancy, menstruation, sperm, diabetes, and birth control pills also can contribute to getting a yeast infection. Yeast infections are more common after menopause.

In people who have a weakened immune system because of cancer treatments, steroids, or diseases such as AIDS, candidal infections can occur throughout the entire body and can be life-threatening. The blood, brain, eye, kidney, and heart are most frequently affected, but the candidal fungus also can grow in the lungs, liver, and spleen. Candida is the leading cause of esophagitis (inflammation in the throat) in people with AIDS.

Almost 15% of people with weakened immune systems develop a systemic illness caused by Candida. These infections enter into the bloodstream through breakdowns or cuts in the skin or mucous membranes.
