Why do I need a Heavy -metal Detox

We live in a toxic world. Every day we are exposed to hundreds of toxic metals and chemicals, such as mercury, lead, aluminum, food additives, pesticides, industrial waste, the list goes on.

Heavy metal poisoning and chemical toxicity leads to the accumulation of toxins in our tissues and organs causing nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, neurological disorders, and, can even lead to autoimmune disorders and other debilitating chronic conditions.

Heavy-metal poisoning is rampant. It is a major cause of hormonal imbalances, cancer, thyroid problems, neurological disturbances, learning problems, and depression. It can and does make us hurt, when no injury is present.

Heavy metals may enter the body in food, water, or air, or by absorption through the skin. Once in the body, they compete with and displace essential mineralssuch as zinc, copper, magnesium, and calcium, and interfere with organ system function. People may come in contact with heavy metals in industrial work, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and agriculture.

Sources of exposure for some heavy metals
lead: old paint, leaded gasoline, old pipes
mercury: contaminated fish, industrial and agricultural wastes
cadmium: industrial waste, insecticides, old galvanized pipes
arsenic: insecticides and industrial processes, some drinking water

Heavy Metal Detox: Physical symptoms of heavy metal toxicity include:
Symptoms will vary, depending on the nature and quantity of the heavy metal, and whether it was ingested or inhaled. Patients who ingest a heavy metal may complain of cramps, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, headache, sweating, and a metallic taste in the mouth. Mercury can cause skin burns if it has touched the skin, and inhaled mercury vapor can cause severe inflammation of the lungs. If lead is inhaled in the form of lead dust, insomnia , headache, mania, and convulsions may occur. In severe cases of heavy metal poisoning, patients exhibit obvious impairment of cognitive, motor, and language skills. The expression "mad as a hatter" comes from the mercury poisoning prevalent in seventeenth-century France among hat makers who soaked animal hides in a solution of mercuric nitrate to soften the hair.

Chelation Therapy - Heavy Metal Detoxification for Mercury Poisoning and Heavy Metal Poisoning
( EDTA -Bought at health food stores online or locally)

Chelation therapy is widely recognized as an effective heavy metal detoxification for people with lead poisoning, mercury poisoning, and other heavy metal toxicities. EDTA is the most commonly used chelator for heavy metal detox. EDTA (ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid) attaching itself to heavy metals and carries the metals from the body. EDTA can also slow free-radical activity produced by heavy metals in the body.

The US Navy began using EDTA in the 1940's for the treatment of lead toxicity with sailors who received lead poisoning from painting and living in ships with lead-based paints. Health professionals have used EDTA for over 50 years for heavy metal removal. EDTA is completely safe, FDA-approved for treating lead poisoning and toxicity from other heavy metals.

TriCardia, a heavy metal detoxification therapy, is designed to cleanse and detox the body of heavy metals and wastes. This heavy metal detoxification also cleanses the cardiovascular system, the liver, kidneys, gallbladder and lymphatic system. TriCardia uses 1.2 grams of free form EDTA along with 31 other free form amino acids, a series of ascorbate complexes and phytomedicinals to aid the removal of heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic, nickel and aluminum while supporting the heart, liver and other organs.

Natural approach to removing Heavy Metals
Cilantro -- also known as coriander or Chinese parsley -- has been proven to chelate toxic metals from our bodies in a relatively short period of time. (The word chelate comes from the Greek word for claw, and describes a process which acts to engulf and then enable the removal of a highly reactive toxic mineral.)

Combined with the benefits of the other ingredients, the following recipe for Cilantro Chelation Pesto is a powerful tissue cleanser. It is not only easy to make, but also really tasty. It's delicious on toast, baked potatoes, and pasta.

Two teaspoons of this cilantro pesto daily for three weeks is purportedly enough to increase the urinary excretion of mercury, lead, and aluminum, thus effectively removing these toxic metals from our bodies. Consider doing this cleanse for three weeks at least once a year.

Cilantro Chelation Pesto
4 cloves garlic
1/3 cup Brazil nuts (selenium source)
1/3 cup sunflower seeds (cysteine source)

2 cups packed fresh cilantro (coriander, Chinese parsley) (Vitamin A source)
2/3 cup flaxseed oil
4 tablespoons lemon juice (Vitamin C source)
2 tsp. Dulse powder
Bragg's Liquid Aminos™

Process the cilantro and flaxseed oil in a blender until the cilantro is chopped. Add the garlic, nuts, and seeds, dulse and lemon juice and mix until the mixture is finely blended into a paste. Add a squirt of Bragg's Liquid Aminos to taste and blend again. Store in dark glass jars if possible. It freezes well, so purchase cilantro in season and fill enough jars to last through the year.
